Bob was predeceased by his father Alex, mother Lena, baby brother Hugh, sister Mary, 5 brother-in-laws Warren, Ed, Bert, Earl, and Jack and sister-in-law Leanne.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Beryl, his wife of 60 years, two children who loved him dearly: Robert (Bob Jr) Cassidy (Lori) and Michelle Macko (Larry), and grandchildren Tatum, Rease, Brandon and Jada. Bob will be greatly missed by his three siblings Kay Ronquist, Sandy Cassidy (Denyse) and Mel Cassidy (Mary), Sister-in laws Lily Swadling, Nora Patterson (Gary) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was born to Alexander Cassidy and Lena (née McCaugherty) on June 26, 1941 at Royal Inland Hospital and resided in Kamloops until his passing.
Bob met ‘the love of his life’ Beryl, and settled in Kamloops to raise their family. They were best friends, doing everything together as their relationship was filled with love and companionship. He was a strong, kind, hardworking man and devoted his life to his wife and family. Bob’s passion was his children and grandchildren and his world rotated around their happiness.
He began his 37-year career with the Department of Highways (Ministry of Transportation) at age 16, becoming a Grader Operator and later working as a District Development Technician until his retirement in 1994. Bob was a devoted employee and worked incredibly hard earning respect from his coworkers.
Bob and Beryl spent many years starting in the late 1960’s travelling to and from Medicine Hat to help farm with in-laws Earl (Beryl’s brother) and Lily Swadling. He worked long hours through the winter to give his family summers at Ski Blue Waters campground near Salmon Arm, where they camped seasonally. He enjoyed having his brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles and their families come camp alongside. He spent countless hours behind the wheel of his ski boat giving everyone a turn to ski. In the early 1980’s, Warren and Kay (Bob’s sister) Ronquist introduced them to salmon fishing in Nanoose Bay, BC. It became such a passion, they eventually built a cabin and spent their summers there.
Bob, we will miss you greatly but know you are in the loving arms of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
There will not be a service per Bob’s wishes.
