It is with great sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Grandpa and Uncle on July 5, 2024. Matt Dmyterko, 82 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 27, 1941, in Ituna, Saskatchewan; he was the second oldest of 11 children to Dmytro and Katie Dmyterko.
Matt is predeceased by his parents and his siblings, sister Mary and brothers Terry and Orest, brother in law Emil Lutz and Charlie Kobialko, and sisters in law Zenia Dmyterko and Muriel Dmyterko.
Matt is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Adelle, his son Darin (Laurie), daughters Roxanne (Rob) and Shauna (Todd), His grandchildren Mikayla (Mackenzie), Brayden (Emily), Tyson, Taylor (Taryn), Jared (Morgan) and his step-grandson Colton (Raquel). He also left behind his brothers Victor, Walter (Irene), Johnny and his sisters Nettie, Doreen (Marty), Delores (Morris), Gladys (Konnie), sister in law Fran and numerous nieces and nephews.
Matt built numerous homes, including 9 of his own. He took pride in the quality of his workmanship for others and himself. He was very meticulous and passionate about making furniture for those he loved. Most of all, he was proud of his grandchildren and shared his many stories with his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Please join us for Prayers in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street on Monday July 15 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday July 16 at 10:00 am in the The Most Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 109 Don Street. Burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery. All Welcome.
Luncheon to follow after the service at the cemetery in the lower level of the Church.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Wong, the Doctors and Nurses at R.I.H. and Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice for the excellent care they gave to Matt during his time there. Also thank you to Father Andrzej for his special prayers.
As an alternative to flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Kamloops Hospice Association (Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice) in honour of Matt’s memory.
