Mary was born on April 18, 1942 to Earl and Iris Ferris in Vancouver. She grew up in Burnaby and married the love of her life, Bob, in 1962. Shortly thereafter they moved to Coquitlam where they lived for 55 years and raised 3 children.
Mary started volunteering playing the piano in long-term care homes and eventually became a care aide herself. She loved to help people.
Mary and Bob discovered the joy of cruising and over the years they experienced travelling the world. They were thrilled to share their love of cruising with their family too, taking or sending them on many incredible adventures.
Mary touched a lot of people’s lives. She was always there to lend a hand and welcomed everyone into her home. She loved to entertain. We will remember the many family gatherings she hosted. She took pride in her beautiful gardens. She was well-known for her dishcloths. Bob will forever hear her words “just let me finish this row”. Her delicious apple and blackberry pies and jars of jelly will be missed by many.
Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Stenberg, her children, Karl Stenberg (Lorraine), Greg Stenberg (Bonnie), Cathy Hoogstins (Jeff) and her grand-daughter Samantha Hoogstins.
In respect of her wishes, no services will be held.
