July 24, 1926 – February 25, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Plamondon (nee Picton), 93 of Kamloops, BC.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Orance in 2012, and by her parents Jean Pierre and Marie Favel Picton, sisters Helen and Antoinette and brothers Louis and John.
She is survived by her 6 children Muriel (Doug) Wright, Louise (Mack) Seaman, Germaine (Willy) DeCraene, Gerry (Elaine), Julian (Karen), Ron (Oi), 11 grandchildren: Brad (Melissa), Jason (Chi), Michelle (Bob), Trevor (Erin), Blake (Teryne), Craig (Leah), Tyler (Erica), Keri (Oliver), Joel, Katie, Ben and 13 great-grandchildren: Tomi, Laura, Ryan, Ethan, Troy, Avery, Cole, Emma, Ophelia, Astrid, Amelia, Rose and Parker.
Marie was born in St. Front, Saskatchewan where she met Orance. They married in 1948 and lived in Bellsite, Manitoba until they moved to 100 Mile House, BC in 1966. They later lived in Fort Nelson before retiring to Okanagan Falls, Ashcroft and finally Kamloops.
Orphaned at a young age, Marie didn’t know much about her roots, but in 2001, Orance, Marie and their 6 adult children travelled to Jarrier, France to visit Marie’s ancestral home and to connect with distant relatives that Orance located through the magic of technology.
Orance and Marie were always up for an adventure, and in addition to further trips to France they also visited their far-flung family in Thailand and Japan.
Marie was devoted to her family, and particularly cherished visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During summer family gatherings in Ashcroft she loved to watch the poolside shenanigans of young and old alike. Her homemade pies, chocolate chip cookies and raspberry jam were legendary.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2 at 10:00 am at St Gerards Catholic Church, Ashcroft. Reception to follow at 1276 Brunswick Place, Ashcroft.
