January 28, 1932 - March 14, 2024
Maria Anselmo passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on March 14, 2024.
Maria is predeceased by her parents Angelo and Francesca Fata, husband Emilio Anselmo, and granddaughter Claudia Dimarco. Maria leaves behind her sister Ornella Consalvo and nieces Maria, Tina, and Lorilee, her two daughters Teresa (Alfonso) Dimarco and Nadia (Antonio) Baliva, her four grandchildren Antonio, Natalie, Amira and Colten as well as her seven great-grandchildren Sophia, Ethan, Logan, Brayden, Mason, Jared, and Ava.
Maria was born on January 28, 1932 in Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy and was the eldest daughter of two children. Maria met her husband, Emilio, the love of her life, in her home town of Grimaldi and married in 1950. Teresa was born a year later. During this time, Emilio immigrated to Canada temporarily leaving his wife, Maria, and young daughter, Teresa, in Italy. His family joined him in 1957 to start a new life together. Several years later the youngest daughter, Nadia, was born in Kamloops. Maria loved her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for all her family and friends, especially her favorite authentic Italian dishes. To all who knew Maria, it was obvious she had a passion for gardening. She had quite the green thumb spending many hours in her vegetable garden enjoying the fruits of her labor. Maria was strong in her faith. Her devotion and faith was the cornerstone of her being, guiding her every step with unwavering devotion. As a dedicated Catholic, she found solace and strength in her prayers, instilling in us the values of compassion, forgiveness, and faith.
The family would like to thank all the staff, nurses, and care aides at RIH, Kamloops, BC for all their help and care towards Maria. A special thank you to Dr. Mavis Hollman for her ongoing help, care, and advice towards our mother till the end. We especially would like to thank all the amazing staff, nurses, and care aides at Pine Grove Senior’s Community for their care and kindness towards our Mother during her short time as a resident.
