June was born on December 11, 1933 in Nelson, BC to James & Bertha Sutherland. She attended school and graduated from LV Rogers Secondary. As a young girl, June excelled in swimming and took lessons in Kootenay Lake. She passed her certificate only after swimming from one side of the lake to the other.
In 1952 she met the love of her life John and they were married on May 23, 1955 and went to Chicago for their honeymoon. Together they raised two children Rodney and Richard who were both born in Nelson.
In 1974 John transferred to Revelstoke for better work opportunities and June settled in to her new home. Many life long friendships were made in Revelstoke. June hosted many dinner parties. Friends and family enjoyed her pasta dishes and Christmas baking which she took great pleasure in sharing. She loved gardening and took pride in her roses which bloom to this day. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the K-Cette’s and Ladies of St Francis and spent many hours volunteering with her friends.
In their retirement years, June and John travelled to Australia, Waikiki and visiting her sister Loretta and her husband Arthur where they enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, Lake Powell and Zion National Park.
June was very caring, loving and soft spoken with a heart of gold who put others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
The family would like to thank her extended family and friends for their love and support they showed June over the years. A special thank you to the medical staff at Royal Inland Hospital and Kamloops Senior Village for their care.
