Sara Kathleen (Jolls) Kitts of Jupiter, Fla., passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021. She was 75. Sara, also known as Kathy, was born on December 2, 1945, in Alma, Mich., to Linol John Jolls and Lucille (Slagel) Jolls.
She graduated from Midland High School in Midland, Mich., in 1964 and moved to Florida in the late 1960s.
Through the years, she was employed as a nanny in the Bahamas; a bank teller at various financial institutions; an administrative assistant at several local businesses, including Pratt & Whitney; a Realtor in Palm Beach County; and a legal secretary for the Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office. In the late 1970s she and her husband started Kitts Fish Farm, Inc., a tropical fish farm in Loxahatchee, Fla., where she was owner and operator for more than 20 years.
Sara was so good with children, probably because she was often a kid at heart herself. She had patience, creativity, a lovely sense of humor and such a beautiful smile. Sara took great pleasure in listening to music and going to the beach. She loved the outdoors. Her favorite down-time activity was hanging out on her patio, feeling the fresh air, watching the wildlife and listening to the birds sing while savoring a good cup of coffee.
But her greatest joy was found in her friends and family. She was a tireless mother, a devoted grandmother, a loyal sister and a giving friend and neighbor.
Sara is survived by her daughter, Kara Beth Kitts-Cohen; her son-in-law, Kevin Cohen; her grandsons, Cameron and Gareth Cohen; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Nancy Jolls and Jim and Ann Jolls; her sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Hugh Curran; and various extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kelly Kitts, and her sister, Tish Zody.
A virtual celebration of her life will be held on Feb. 6.
