Michael was educated in the Ardsley, NY school system, graduating from Ardsley High School. He served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was the co-owner/operator of Intercounty Paving in Westchester, NY for 35 years until his retirement. Michael enjoyed playing golf, taking nature walks, gardening and reading. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a proud season ticket holder of the N.Y. Rangers and an avid Yankees fan; Joe DiMaggio being his favorite player. Michael’s proudest and greatest achievement in life was his family. He loved spending time with them all and will best be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Nettie Spano; a son, Michael A. Spano, Jr. and 5 siblings.
He is survived by a daughter, Carole Reed; a brother, George Spano; two sisters, Marie Nardecchia and Rose Rutkowski; four grandchildren, Chris Spano (Rachel), Gina Reed, Rob Spano (Amy), and Ronald Reed (Vicky); as well as eight great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at AYCOCK-RIVERSIDE FUNERAL AND CREMATION CENTER, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL. A Service will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, FL.
