Linda Dale Dixon, 72, of West Palm Beach, passed away on August 4, 2020 with her family by her side. She was born on August 31, 1947 in Miami, Florida, grew up in Coconut Grove and graduated from Coral Gables High School.
Linda was a talented artist who was passionate about fine art. Her skills were first celebrated while she was in high school when a drawing of hers won at the first Coconut Grove Arts Festival. Linda continued to expand her talents as she earned her B.A. and a Master of Fine Arts from State University of New York at Buffalo while studying Architectural Sculptural Design.
Linda worked as a potter and sculptor early in her career. Some of her most enjoyable professional work was as an artist in residence at Artpark in Lewiston, NY, owning Clayworks studio in Buffalo, NY, building her own wood burning kiln, traveling mountains in Japan learning century old skills of the ancient kiln masters and owning LDDK Studios gallery in Seagrove, NC. Linda found her ultimate passion and creativity as she worked on commissioned art for public and private property along with many architectural restoration projects. Linda’s restoration work can be found on many historical and prominent terra cotta buildings throughout the country. Some of her most cherished work is in Penn Station in Manhattan and at the North Carolina Zoo.
Linda will be missed deeply by two daughters, Lisa Kitchen and Laurel (Kurt) Zilch; three grandchildren, Alec, Mason and Tanner Zilch; a brother, Gregory (Lynn) Dixon; a niece, Liza Dixon; a nephew, Destin Dixon and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur (Bud) and Martha Shelley Dixon and a brother, Douglas Dixon.
Linda will always be remembered for her kindness, her wonderful laugh and beautiful smile. Her sense of calm and her ability to cherish the beauty around her made her artwork even more special. Linda’s light will always shine on like the moon and the stars and the sun.
The family plans on having a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Young Arts Foundation at https://www.youngarts.org.
