Joanne graduated from the American Academy of Arts and pursued her love of theater. She continued her education at Trinity College. She leaves behind her beloved husband William Dixon Roddy of 60 years. In 1961 her theater company went on strike and as fate would have it she sought employment at Lord and Taylor where she met the love of her life.The family grew quickly and moved often and through Joanne’s support, Bill embarked on a successful career in retail. Joanne amazed family and friends as she happily packed up her 6 children and relocated the family 5 times over 15 years. The lifelong adventure that followed forged incredible family bonds with her children and between one another. Joanne was a world traveler, an avid reader and a lifelong learner.
While raising her large family she furthered her education graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas in 1978. Joanne’s love for knowledge included learning new languages, keeping up with the stock market, acquiring and learning the latest technology and gadgets. She was a wonderful storyteller who loved to make people laugh with her quick wit. Joanne was a proud mother to 6 children and 8 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother, John (Jack) McDonald.
In addition to being survived by her husband, Joanne leaves behind her brothers, Miles Mcdonald of Riverside, CT and Alan McDonald of Tequesta, FL; her children, William Douglas Roddy and his wife Bruna of St. Augustine Florida, Christopher McDonald Roddy and his two children, Aidan and Connor of Southbury CT, Tierney Ann Roddy Sarcia and her husband Charles and their daughter, Shealyn of Merrimack NH; Elizabeth Grace Roddy Sheedy and her husband Robert and their three children, Nicholas, Emma and Joseph of Salem, NH; Matthew Michael Roddy and his wife Kristen and their two children, William and Katherine of Swampscott, MA and Alison Kate Roddy Brower and her husband Justin of Apopka, FL.

A funeral service will be held March 19, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, FL.
