He was born December 15, 1952, in Lima, OH, to Joseph and Nancy Holtzapple Beckman.
He graduated from Van Wert High School in 1972. He was then drafted into the Air Force where he served until 1976 as a firefighter on crash/rescue and was stationed at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Marquette, MI.
He married Susan Clum on April 13, 1973, in Van Wert, OH.
He worked at Beneficial Finance in Toledo, OH; Apria Healthcare in Stuart, FL; A World of Rugs in Juno Beach, FL; and as a partner with his wife in their business, USA Medical Transcription, Inc., in Jupiter, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Clum Beckman; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Rob Pohorence and Wendy and Chaz Sunser; grandchildren, Brittney Watson, Spencer Gregory Hackler, Marissa Hackler, and Alaira Pohorence; and great-grandson, Alexander Gregory Suarez. A brother, Bryce (Jackie) Beckman also survives.
Before his illnesses, he enjoyed being the most wonderful and unforgettable Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandson, RC flying, and camping.
Everyone will always remember his motto: Treat others the way you want to be treated.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Church in Jupiter, FL.
