A Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Jonesboro, Georgia and interment following at Sherwood Memorial Park cemetery in Jonesboro, GA. Family will receive friends at Tara Garden Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 PM. She was born on March 17, 1931 in Miragoane, Haiti, to Charles Aspilaire and Alomelia Jean-Bart. Her father was a shoemaker and her mother was a merchant.
Wilda lived most of her life in Miragoane. She graduated from school specializing in dress making and became one of the top seamstresses in Miragoane. Wilda married Andre Jeanty in 1951 and later opened her own school teaching her craft to others. Andre moved to the US in 1983 and Wilda and the rest of the family joined him in 1985 to start a new life.
Her interests included family, sewing, classical music, assisting others, and daily scripture reading. Once she became a grandmother, she spent most of her time cherishing her grandchildren.
Wilda is survived by her sisters, Jeanne Michel and Asma Etienne, 2 sons and spouses, 2 daughters and spouses, and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andre Jeanty, her brother, Ludner Aspilaire, and her sisters, Helene Lacrete, Odelie Raphael, Prudence Jean-Pierre, and Marguerite Zephir.
