Lorenzo Ridenhour

Lorenzo Douglas Ridenhour celebrated life to the fullest. He was born in New York City, Harlem hospital on April 22, 1938. Lorenzo was raised by a loving mother (Troxie Covington), grandmother (Maude Standback), and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He loved all types of sports, especially baseball. He was later asked to try-out for the Brooklyn Dodgers while serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was well traveled and quite knowledgeable on many subjects of life. He always saw the good in everyone and would always be there if needed. He had many hobbies and jobs that made him a jack of all trades. Later on in life, many of these adventures turned into businesses. He opened a couple of antiques shops. One shop in Laurelton, New York and one in Atlanta, Georgia. He also had a trucking service. He later retired from Georgia Tech as a warehouse supervisor. There he became not only an employee, but a great leader and mentor of a lot of young men in which he hired. Many men say that he was the epitome of what a real man, father and friend should be. He was very honest and straight to the point about life…Lorenzo always said, “Live life to the fullest because nothing is promised.” And so it is.

He is survived by his wife Veronica Ridenhour. His 3 children Carlton, Lisa and Eric from his first union (Judy Ridenhour), his “bonus” children Claudine, Camille and Omar. 1 Brother, 2 Sisters, 3 Sons-in-law, 1 Daughter-in-law, mother and father-in-law, 2 Brothers-in-law, 1 Sister-in law and 12 grandchildren and a host of other family members.
