He had two brothers, Joseph Charles Jr. and Richard Samuel, one sister Lillie Louise. He was preceded in death by both parents, Joseph and Opal Walsh, his sister Lillie L. Bass and brother Richard S. Walsh.
The sun set on his life when the Lord called him after 81 years, on the evening of January 11, 2022, at his home in Stockbridge, Georgia, with his niece LaVon Walsh and loving caregivers Ksha and David Vaughn and extended family member Leslie Smith at his bedside.
He grew up and attended public schools in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating from Sumner High School in 1958. He was baptized into Jesus Christ at the Roswell Church of Christ in Kansas City, Kansas in 1968.
Jerome relocated to Atlanta, Ga., placing membership at the Turner Road congregation and started a Video Ministry in the late 1990’s and it continues to this day as an Online ministry at the now Bouldercrest congregation where hundreds have been blessed through this ministry. Photography and Videography technology became a hobby with Jerome, which he used to assist others who later ventured into this profession. He received a Service Award from the Boulder- crest congregation which he proudly hangs in the entry way of his home.
Jerome was a member of the Bouldercrest Birthday Club, joining in 2009, which consisted of 15 men to serve seniors and young boys, encouraging them through various benevolent gifts, with meetings once a month. Jerome’s personal life was dedicated to showering gifts upon family and friends and assisting the needy, having supplied hundreds with household and personal items expecting nothing in return.
Jerome was employed by Roadway Express Trucking, a national long distance delivery service company in 1972, retiring in 1998. He was the recipient of several Million Mile Safety Awards. He later became owner operator of Walsh Trucking Group and Walsh Paving Contractors before an unfortunate highway accident hospitalized and disabled him to continue in the companies.
We, Jerome’s family, express our deepest thanks to the dozens of brothers and sisters at the Bouldercrest congregation for their sincere dedication of home visitation and the Loving Arms Hospice Healthcare of Decatur, Ga. during the last five months of his inability to care for himself. Also, the cards, letters and phone calls to encourage Jerome and his family during his final days.
Jerome leaves to cherish his memories with his brother and sister-in-law, a host of Nieces and Nephews, extended family, friends and caregivers, and a church family of many loving brothers and sisters in Christ.
Lovingly submitted by, Joseph C. Walsh, Jr., brother
