I will miss Wayne coming into the shop for his parts for his case ih farm equipment.  I would say “hello Wayne” and he always replied “hi dear” I’ll miss that.  He was a great man and will be truly missed. 


I will always remember spending hot summer days working on the farm with Mr. Barb and the boys.  Our summer job of stacking hay or straw in the barn could be brutal,  but the memories I made are forever.  He is probably shaking his head now, knowing half the stupid things we did in between wagons coming from the fields. He showed his appreciation, not only monetarily,  but with a genuine handshake and “Thank You” at the end of the day.  “Watch your speed through Alexandria on the way home, and don’t forget your bag of sweet corn!” 

I’m so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. He was a great man and lifted anyone who knew him. My condolences for the Barb family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We have so many great memories of all of the Barbs at Newark Catholic Athletic events. Wayne’s smile was always so welcoming!



Wayne was the rarest of men. He was good natured, kind, good humored with a contagious smile and laugh.
I'm forever grateful for the love and acceptance that he always provided Natalie and I.

Sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. Remember summer of 1972, I had just graduated high school and Wayne had just started working at P. E. Grubb for Bill Wright. We both had detasseling crews. You and Wayne lived in one of Grubb's houses just south of our place. I think that same summer Don and I helped Wayne and Bob put up some grain bins.

Wayne was a nice guy. I remember watching him on the basketball team. 

My family and I were very sorry to hear about Wayne’s passing. We have many fond memories of him as our auctioneer at the Hartford Fair. His kindness and fun-loving nature will be missed by many.  Praying for your family during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Wayne was such a great guy and will be missed very much.  Our friendship goes a long back and and I have lots of fond memories of Wayne and his family.  I loved riding the school bus when I was a teenager because Wayne always saved me a seat and entertained us on the ride home.  He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.  We all enjoyed competing in
 4-H together and being camp counselors too.

Wayne was funny and kind, humble and hard working. Even on the busiest days at the farm he always made time to say hello, and catch up since the last time we’d visited Johnstown. Wayne and Carol have opened up their home (and vacation home) to us, and have made us feel part of the extended Barb clan. Wayne was one of the best gentleman I have ever known.  He gave everything he had unconditionally to everyone he knew. My prayers are with Carol, Jim,Sam, Molly and the rest of your families. 

Wayne was a giant of a man who lived the fullest of lives. He was the perfect neighbor to us and the greatest of friends. We as a family will miss him dearly and I will miss our talks on the combine.  We are truly blessed to have had such a man in our lives. My condolence to his family and prayers for comfort. I graduated with Wayne in 1967 he was a great guy and a great basketball player and always friendly to everyone. I had to privilege to sit with him at her 50th class reunion and we had a great time talking and reminiscing about the old days his dad was my bus driver when I was in school.

Where to even begin, Wayne and Carol have been our neighbors my whole life. On hot summers days when we would get home from work there would be a bag of fresh sweet corn right inside the door, we all knew it came from Wayne and that it would be delicious.  Wayne would call the Mill first thing on a Saturday morning during football season to see how  Ethan (he was always” Doc”to Wayne) played the night before and wanted to know how the game went. We could talk sports for days and he was always so proud of his Grandkids accomplishments on and off the field/court.  If Wayne was in front of you in his his truck driving to town, you knew you weren’t getting anywhere soon!  He would call Tony and Ethan to help vaccinate cattle with Jim, and Sam and oh the funny stories that would come home with them.  Fair time, he made sure the kids got as much as they possibly could out of those steers. To say Wayne will be missed is a huge understatement.  I’m grateful to have had Wayne in my life and will never forget him! Barb Family, keep all your memories of Wayne close in your hearts, he will always be with you💕

Selling my animals at the fair was always tough. But, looking up and seeing Wayne Barb flash a friendly smile made those days easier. I’ll miss watching him drive around town in his farm truck and I’ll remember him fondly every time I walk the fairgrounds! I’m thinking of Mrs. Barb and praying for the whole family.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Barb.  I remember him as a man who was always positive and upbeat with a smile on his face.  He will be greatly missed by the Newark Catholic family.  As a football coach, I appreciated that he got many of our players in shape by hiring them to bale hay.  He and his family are in our prayers.



Wayne was a valued member of Alpha Gamma Sigma Ag Fraternity that could always be counted on. He was a man of integrity and fun to be around with a contagious smile and demeanor. Dee and I valued the friendship of Wayne and Carol, and the memories we share.

Mr. Barb was the ultimate supporter of Johnstown Athletics. We made a friendship that would last for years when I had the opportunity to coach Sam as a 7th grade Johnnie basketball player. That friendship and respect would last for years at the Hartford Fair whenever Wayne would be doing his best to sell the animals at the various sales that took place during the week. Always a true gentleman and ambassador to the kids!! I will miss seeing that red Super Duty rolling through Johnstown!! Rest in Peace Mr. Barb!!
