He is survived by his wonderful wife JoAnne (Butler) Belt of 58 years on October 20, 2014; his children David (Suzy) Belt, Sandy (Jim Corman) Belt and Jim Belt, his grandchildren Kiva Belt, Collin Belt, Mark T. (Dawn) Dingess, Tiffany (Justin) Carnes, Christina Belt and Danielle Belt. Great-grandchildren Austin Dingess, Morgan Dingess, Peyton McKenzie, Dallas Dingess and Hazel Dingess. He was preceded in death by his daughter in law Debbie Belt.
Raymond was a member of the Johnstown HS class of “54, and went to serve in the USAF in 1954 and retired after 20 years of service in 1974 at NORAD in Colorado Springs, CO. Raymond was a long time member of the Church of the Resurrection in New Albany, graduated from Otterbein College on June 10, 1979 and retired from Riverside Methodist Hospital in March of 1991 as an accountant. Raymond and JoAnne were involved in the Good Sam organization as State Directors in Arizona and Colorado, and square dancing and camping were an important part of their lives in past years. He loved his riding mower, his garden, and in his garage he always had something to do or make. He enjoyed his crossword puzzles and reading.
His family owned the property where Belt Memorial Park is, which is now a beautiful ball park for the young that love to play sports. Raymond was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed dearly.
Friends may call Tuesday Sept 2, 2014 at the Crouse Kauber Sammons Funeral Home in Johnstown from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 3, 2014 at 10:30 at the Church of the Resurrection, 6300 East Dublin-Granville Road, New Albany 43054. Burial will follow with military honours at Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown. Contributions in Raymond’s memory can be made to the Pallative Care at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
