Mike was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 29, 1945. He graduated from Fairview (164) High School, where he was on the wrestling team; he also delivered the Dayton Daily News and loved to play street basketball.
In 1964, Mike entered Ohio State, and then transferred to Wright State University. He worked at the Frigidaire plant as a "parts" man.
1966, Mike met the love of his life, Carole; they were married in 1967, then he went on to graduate with a degree in business management.
1967 gave Mike a new wife, a new job with General Adjustment Bureau as an Insurance Adjustor, a new home in Grove City, and a new son in September, Phillip. 1973 gave Mike his second son Travis.
The year of 1985, Mike came to a personal relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Mike's entire life changed. He became quite active at Church and he never gave up an opportunity to witness to friends and family.
In 1990, Mike and Carole built their dream home near Alexandria, where they currently reside. In 1992, Mike and Fred Carter started the Carter-Raynes Claims Service.
Mike loved to camp with his old Starcfraft trailer. He and Carole cycled many miles touring the back roads of Ohio and several other states. Mike loved gardening and planting trees. He was in "Heaven" on his two and a half acres.
He has been married 56 glorious years to his beloved wife Carole Raynes. He loved his two sons, Phillip (Jennie) Raynes and Travis (Jenny) Raynes; and adored his grandchildren, AJ, Daniel, Jennie, and Matthew. Mike leaves behind his two sisters; Barb and Edie; cousin, Phillip (Chris) Raynes; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
Mike lived Jesus everyday. He helped start the Johnstown Food Pantry and spent many hours and years volunteering there. It wasn't unusual to have Mike getting food for a family on a Saturday evening.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024 at New Covenant Church, 8408 Johnstown Utica Rd, Johnstown, OH 43031. Pastor Kyle Springer will officiate the service, with Fred Carter and Tom Hosley as speakers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mike's name to the Johnstown Food Pantry, 140 Pratt Street, Johnstown, OH 43031.
