John Ellsworth Barrick, 85 of Centerburg, OH passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Licking Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Croton Church of Christ, 40 S Main St., Croton, OH with Pastor Dan Hamilton officiating. Interment to follow at Hartford Cemetery, Croton, OH.
John was born on January 15, 1926 in Bennington Township, Centerburg, OH to the late H. Harold and Mila Marie (Butt) Barrick. Licking County. John was a former dairy and grain farmer as well as, a sheep breeder. He was one of the founding officers and member of the Licking County Agrology Club, Professional Agrains, former member of the Hartford Grange, member of the Gideons International, a 65 year member of the Masonic Bloomfield Lodge # 422 (currently combined with Mt. Zion of Mt Vernon), member of the Croton Church of Christ, where he served as an elder and in various ways to further God’s work in the church and community. John was a regular visitor to the Hartford Fair, only missing attending it one year.
John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Marilyn Kay (Ackerman) Barrick of Centerburg, daughter Carolyn K. (Ted) Lammers of New Knoxville, OH., sons; James E. (Sue) Barrick of Lubbock, TX., Lynn H. Barrick of Centerburg, OH., 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and good friends.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his infant brother Paul Barrick, brother Harold Barrick, sister Geneva Samoriga, and infant great-grandson Emmanuel Lammers.
Friends may call on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the church from 2 to 5 pm. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Croton Church of Christ or to the Gideons International.
