James Edward Reeves (better known as Ed or Eddie to family and friends), Age 72, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Thursday, June 9th, 2022. He was born December 9th, 1949 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He is preceded in death by Mother, Emma (Pellegrinon) Reeves and Father, James Andrew Reeves, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Bush) Reeves, Brother, Jeff Reeves (Amy), and sister, Son, Michael Reeves (Jody), Grandchildren, Sara, Heidi, Hannah, Bailee, Son, Christopher Reeves (Jennifer), Grandchildren, Dylan and Drake, Great Grandchildren, Nolan and Carson, along with many other family and friends. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Linda, for 51 years, and he loved being surrounded by his Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
Ed graduated from Marion Franklin high school, he went on to be a pitcher for the Ohio State University baseball team. His love for baseball carried on throughout the years when he coached both of his son’s little league teams in Groveport, Ohio. He was an avid sports fan of his favorite teams, The Cleveland Browns, The Cincinnati Reds, and the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was also an avid outdoorsman with an emphasis on his love for fishing. Ed retired from Kroger, after 42 years of employment. He valued his many fishing trips at some of his favorite spots including Lake Guntersville, Apple Valley, and several areas of Ontario, Canada. He had a genuine love for music that started by being in his high school band and continued on through the years by going to concerts and listening to his favorite CD’s.
Ed was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, decision maker, story teller, advice giver, and bright light in a lot of people’s lives and as he will be missed dearly, we shall spend this time celebrating his life.
Friends and family may join us for visiting hours on Tuesday June 14th, 2022 from 11:00am to 12:30pm with a memorial service to follow from 12:30pm-1:00pm at the Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, 81 S Main Street, Johnstown, Ohio, 43031.
