Barbara A. Thompson, 87, longtime resident of Alexandria, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017. She was born July 14, 1930 in Columbus, OH to the late Kenneth and Lily (Paskell) Smith. As a young lady, Barb met her husband of 68 years, John W. “Jack” Thompson, while working on a farm. She cherished her roles as a wife and mother. Barb hosted weekly Sunday dinners and offered her open home to family, friends and acquaintances. She was often called upon to decorate cakes for special occasions including many weddings over the years. Barb was active throughout her community, often enjoyed playing euchre and other card games, and always cheered up the room with her joyful spirit and happy laugh.
Barb will be deeply missed by her husband and children, Linda (Art) Bowman, Cheryl Sauer-Fenton and Craig (Pam) Thompson; brother, Roger (Rosa) Smith; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and the many friends Barb enjoyed throughout her life. In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Smith.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the funeral home. Graveside service will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate cemetery.
