Arthur George Perry, 91, of Newark, Ohio passed away June 30, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Art was born October 18, 1932, to parents, Albert George Perry and Annie Neill of Liverpool England. He is preceded in death by first wife, Jessie Gladys Perry, second wife, Irma Hawkins Perry and beloved sister Dinah Whittle. He is survived by daughters Gina Perry and Lisa Mulholland, granddaughters Jessica and Samantha Mulholland, all of Canada. Locally he will be remembered by stepson Tom Hawkins (Stephanie) and many extended grandchildren and loved ones. Art's father perished in WWII during the London bombings. He and his mother lived in and were caretakers of a Lighthouse during this difficult time to make ends meet. As a young man, Art was an avid swimmer, competing in water polo and other swim competitions. After high school he served in the British Army with the Royal Scots Greys, where he was trained as a tank crewman and gunner after the war, during the occupation of Germany. He also served in North Africa during Libya's transition to independence. Later Art emigrated to Canada where he was a Toronto police officer for 34 years as a motorcycle cop and later an instructor. He was a lover of animals and previously owned a horse farm where he raised racehorses. Arthur had many talents and hobbies, wine making, and wood carving were just two. He loved listening to music, singing and playing various instruments like piano, banjo, guitar, accordion and recorder. If there was a karaoke machine nearby, you would be blessed to have him serenade you. He loved nature and gardening and captured his love in many of his paintings. He and his second wife Irma had an online art studio and kept very active until later years. He was a kind and caring gentleman to all who met him.
The family would like to thank the special hospice family that looked after him in recent years including Debra Compton, Amanda Sims, Chaplain Ivon Roberson who recently baptized Art, Kelly Stansel and veteran friend, Joe Machado.
