John Leslie “Jack” Burnett, age 75, of Blountville, TN, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, a son of the late Dewey Ethel Burnett and Marjorie Gertrude White Burnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ralph Elbert McGee.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Army and stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He graduated in 1972 from Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, TN with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. He started with TVA in Cumberland City, Tennessee, and retired with 30 years of service as an Assistant Unit Operator at Kingston Steam Plant. Jack was an avid reader of American Western History. He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, SASS Cowboy Shooting Club, and Tri-Cities HOG Chapter #4912 where he was serving as the current Director. He loved mustangs and was the proud owner of many over his lifetime, riding motorcycles especially his Harley Davidson, and traveling on his Harley Davidson trike with his wife Debbie.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Debbie Burnett; one son, Bryan Burnett and girlfriend, Candis Killman; one daughter, Jennifer Darby and boyfriend Chris Stevenson; one grandson, Tennessee Darby; one brother, Robert “Bob” Alexander Burnett and wife Sharon; one nephew, Brian Burnett; one niece, Erin Burnett; mother-in-law, Jean McGee; and several special friends with Tri-Cities HOG Chapter #4912, Colonial Heights Baptist Church, and Gold Wing Riders Chapter B of Knoxville, TN.
Committal Service and Interment will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Monte Vista Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Burton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Bristol Regional Medical Center Emergency Room and Cath Lab for all their love and care that was shown.
