On October 4th, 2023, Thomas Armitage Evinrude, of Stuart, Florida, passed away at the age of 91. Tom was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended Dartmouth and the University of Wisconsin/Madison, where he received a Business Degree. He worked for Outboard Marine Corporation under his father, Ralph Evinrude, as a sales representative.Tom was also involved in many real estate investments in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. His pride and joy was his log cabin in Michigamme, Michigan, which he built in 1958. He lived in Michigan and Florida, moving to Florida permanently in 2019.
Throughout his life Tom was an outdoor enthusiast. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, canoeist, camper, boater, tennis and pickleball player, and in his later years he was an avid cribbage player. His Sundays were filled with luncheons and watching football, especially his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Tom was a member of The Sons Of Norway Gulfstream Lodge #3-514, Fort Pierce, Florida.
Tom was a veteran, having served in the United States Army based in Anchorage, Alaska.
Tom believed in the spirit of giving and donated to various organizations including the Boys and Girls' Club of Martin County, the YMCA of Marquette, Michigan, the YMCA of Martin County, the Florida Oceanographic Society, and the Martin Memorial Foundation.
He is survived by his son Thomas Ole Evinrude of Stuart, FL, his sister Sally Slater of Jensen Beach, FL, his niece Sharon Evinrude of Jensen Beach, FL, his nephew Christopher Slater of Jensen Beach, FL, great-nephews: Christopher Wojcieszak (daughter Waylynn), Eric Wojcieszak (daughter Clara), Zachary Slater, great-nieces: Kelly Wardle, Savannah Slater, Jaclyn Springston (daughter Haizley), Britten Glover (son Kayden, daughter Lily, and son Maverick).
Tom's kind spirit and gentle nature, huge heart, and positive outlook on life will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
Services are to he held at Aycock Funeral Home 950 NE Jensen Beach Boulevard, Jensen Beach, Florida 34957 on October 11, 2023. Gathering of Family and Friends 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM Celebration of Life 5:30 to 6:00 PM Reception 6:00 PM-8:00 PM
He will be laid to rest in Milwaukee,Wisconsin at a later date.
