John was born in Oyster Bay, New York and lived in Jensen Beach for more than 20 years, coming from West Palm Beach.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II as part of the Pacific Fleet. After his discharge, John was a partner in a local construction company and also worked for the Lindenhurst School District on Long Island. John was a co-founder and charter member of the Lindenhurst VFW. In 1971 he and his family moved to Florida where he continued to work in the construction industry, and retired from his private practice just a few years ago. John volunteered with United Way RSVP for nearly 20 years, and was an active member and supporter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation, Stuart Sunshine Chapter.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Kaminsky, and by his wife of 67 years, Muriel Kraft. Survivors include his sons, John Kraft Jr. of Montgomery, NY and Robert Kraft of Lake Worth; daughter Debra Kraft of Jensen Beach; sister Brenda Gumbrecht of Sebastian; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Services: Visitation with family and friends will begin at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, November 29 at Aycock Funeral Home, 950 NE Jensen Beach Blvd., Jensen Beach. Guests are invited to a repast in Palm City following the service. A guest book is available at www.aycockjensenbeach.com.
