Edwin Fulton Maxwell Jr., age 77, of Jensen Beach, Florida passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Edwin was born September 13, 1946 in Miami, Florida as the first of four sons of Edwin and Dorothy Maxwell. Ed has been a lifelong Florida resident and was proud of being a fifth generation Floridian growing up in Ft. Lauderdale. Ed graduated from Stranahan High School in 1965. Upon graduation from high school, Ed volunteered and served in the US Army. He was selected for Officers Training School and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Artillery, 9th Infantry Div, Republic of Vietnam as a 2nd Lieutenant. During his time in Vietnam, he earned numerous commendations including both the Army Commendation Medal and Bronze Star for valor in combat. Ed left the Army as a Captain returning first to Ft. Lauderdale and later Jensen Beach. He lived and worked in Jensen Beach over 35 years where he owned and operated the Computer Station providing excellent technology support for local businesses and individuals.
Ed was a founding member of the Martin County Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1041 and a member of the VFW Post 10066 in Jensen Beach. While growing up, he spent many weekends and summer vacations with family on the local waterways and learned to love nature and the environment of Martin County. He always took a keen interest in local government, development, and the effects of growth on the local environment.
Ed’s survivors include his wife Carole, son Gregory of Novato CA, former wife Vicki Cullen of Plantation, Florida, and brothers Gary of Palm City and Martin of Port Saint Lucie. Ed was preceded in death by his father Edwin F. Maxwell Sr., Mother Dorothy (Brown) Maxwell, and youngest brother Robert Maxwell.
We will celebrate Ed’s life on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, 950 NE Jensen Beach Blvd, Jensen Beach, FL 34957. A funeral service will occur at 2:00 PM with a reception following. His committal will be at Canaveral National Cemetery on Thursday with Military Honors.
