She was born February 5, 1923 in Midway, PA, the daughter of the late Mike and Mary Hribar Turk.
Mary spent her younger years in the Burgettstown area always reminiscing about the days on the farm with her parents, three sisters and brother.
Mary was a 1941 graduate of Burgettstown High School. She began her employment career during World War II with American Bridge constructing LST troop transport ships in Ambridge and with the Department of Defense in Washington D.C. during the later years of the war. Mary retired from the position of purchasing agent from the former Youth Development Center in Waynesburg and the Western Center in Canonsburg, PA.
Mary was instrumental in establishing the first kindergartens in the county at Our Lady of Consolation and St. Marcellus Catholic churches. She served as a costume designer and seamstress for theatrical productions at Waynesburg University and Moschetta’s Dance Studio.
Her pastime activities included knitting a scarf for everyone she knew, making fudge, and religiously watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates.
On January 14, 1950 she married John Lubich Jr., who preceded her in death on June 28, 1973.
Surviving are four children, Michael (Bill) Lubich (Debbie) Rices Landing, Barbara L. Stockdale (James) Jefferson, Diana J. Moskola (John) Clarksville, and Mary Joyce Hobe (Tim) Rices Landing; eight grandchildren; Luke and Hans Lubich, Joshua Stockdale, John Michael, Jarrod, and Brent Moskola, Amanda Hobe Camody (Ryan), and Adam Hobe; two sisters Helen McKeown and Janice (Umberto) Cerminara, both of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews
Preceding her in death are a brother Michael Turk and a sister Margaret Ulintz.
Mary was blessed to be able to depart this world surrounded by her family and enjoy one last hug and kiss. Since Mary’s primary focus in life was her family in her honor and memory, in lieu of sending flowers, her family is requesting you to take the time to hug and express your love to all members of your family.
