Toney Julian Jones Sr.

Toney J. Jones Sr., 80, of Oakman, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020, at his residence. Family will receive friends Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 25, 2020, 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. Johnny Martin will officiate.

Toney retired as a Lt. Col. in the Army after 33 years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruby Sharlene Jones. Toney was in the American Legion as a District Commander for 2 years and Commander at Post 101 for 2 years. He graduated from Officer Candite School on May 20, 1965. He graduated from Oakman High School in 1958. He was also a longtime Deacon at Corona Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Lou Jones; and sister, DeAnna Woods.

He is survived by his wife Sharlene Jones; children, Toney Jones Jr., Marilyn Jones Theriot, Vanessa Jones Mitchell(Jennie L. Snyder), Christopher Jones(Holly F. Jones); brother Ronnie Jones(Luevinnia Jones); grandchildren, Bridget Baggett, Kyle Richerson, Thomas Richerson, Norma Jean Dorman, Coral Jones, and Hunter Jones; great grandchildren, Braxton Clark, Madison Clark, Aubrey Richerson, and Allison Baggett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Wounded Warriors in his name.
