Johnnie Anna Rutledge Files, 79, of Carbon Hill, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Northwest Medical Center. Family will receive friends Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will be Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will be at Carbon Hill Memorial Cemetery. Bro. David Pickard, Gail Johnson, and Kenny Sawyer will officiate.
Johnnie was the baby of the 12 Rutledge children. She was a coal miner’s daughter and the devoted wife of a coal miner. Jamie was her pride and joy. Kendall was the light of her life. She loved spending time at the lake with family and friends. She was well known for her delicious chicken and dressing.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Roy Leon “Pete” Files; parents, Cody and Alma Rutledge; siblings, Howard Rutledge, A.C. Rutledge, Ellis Rutledge, Mabel Kilgo, Hazel Hendon, Elizabeth Hinds, Dolly Long, Ruth Sawyer, and Eunice Rutledge.
She is survived by her son, Jamie L. Files; daughter-in-law, Amanda Files; grandchild, Kendall Grace Files; siblings, Shelby Heathcock, Alvie Cook; and special sister, Jimmie Rutledge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Eldridge Baptist Church for Operation Christmas Child.
Pallbearers will be John T. Hinds, Ronald ‘Bubba” Ennis, Don Tittle, David Sandlin, and James Keeton.
