George E Deavours

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 10 until 11 a.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. George Barrera will officiate.

George was a graduate of the University of Alabama and worked as a CPA for many years. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and was a long time member of Woodland Trace Church of Christ. He loved Alabama football, bluegrass music and his dogs. George loved spending time with his family and friends and making them laugh.

He was preceded in death by his son, Caleb Deavours; parents, Charles and Carrie Deavours; brother, Ted Deavours; and sister, Norma Nabors.

He is survived by his son, Patrick Deavours (Danielle); granddaughter, Skylar Deavours; sisters, Bonita Taylor and Wanda Barnes; nieces and nephews, Melanie Taylor, Patti Tucker, Diane Welch, Allison Sweigard, Landon Taylor, Eric Barnes, Tyler Barnes, Scott Deavours, Freddy Nabors, Joel Nabors and Steve Nabors; and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Walker College Foundation or Woodland Trace Church of Christ.
