Era Dean Scruggs

Era Dean Wheeler Scruggs, 95, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones. Family will receive friends Monday, January 13, 2020, from 9 until 11 a.m. Service will follow at 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. Kennith Bishop will officiate.

She was an aircraft inspector in World War 2, retired from the Arrow Shirt Factory, an avid word searcher, and a member of Five Points Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orland E. Scruggs; parents, Cicero and Maudie Wheeler; siblings, Ava Taylor, Louise Hendrix, R.C. Wheeler, Billy Gene Wheeler, and Evelon Thornberry.

She is survived by her daughters, Salieta Stone (Tom), Vanessa Banks (Tim), and Kathy Wheeler-Scruggs; sister, Faye Kendrick; grandchildren, Farrah Alexander (Chuck), Stacy Taylor, Kaylen DeFoor (Chad), Lindsey Waldrop (Chris), and Natachu Wheeler-Scruggs; in-laws, Barbara Wheeler and Jack Thornberry.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Alexander, Mark Blair, Chad DeFoor, Chris Waldrop, Barry Wheeler, and Kohl DeFoor.
