Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, March 17, 2019, from 1 until 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Burial at the National Cemetery of Montevallo. Alan Beasley will officiate.
Kenny Fender retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army. 44 years serving two tours in Vietnam, with an additional overseas tour in Germany. Member of First united Methodist Church of Jasper, AL. Awarded the Bronze Star, Master Aviation Commendations, and other numerous military awards and recognition. Actively involved in: Freemasonry, Shriners, Habitat for Humanity, Prison Outreach Ministries, Beacon House, Gideons, Salvation Army and other local ministries Recipient of a Bronze, Silver and Gold Star in Alabama Senior Volunteerism. Senior JROTC Instructor at Walker High School for 20 years. He was an Honored Father, Beloved Husband, Master Aviator and Decorated Soldier, Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian Fender and Jessie Sue Huckaby Fender; grandparents, Kyle and Winnie Huckaby; in-laws: Kermit and Myrtis Hanson.
Survived by his wife, Diane Fender; Children, Shannon Fender and Keith Fender; grandchildren, Kamp Fender, Kyler Fender (Molly) and Julianna Fender; great grandchildren, Keegan Fender; siblings, James Fender (Ruth)
