Carlos was a lifelong resident of Curry, Ala. He graduated from Curry High School in 1957 and began working in the coal mines. He spent 38 years of service with the Drummond Coal Company and retired as a member of the UMWA. Although he never really retired, he began spending more time in his hay fields and in his workshop. His wife of 62 years, Carolyn Elliott, affectionately referred to it as his Hobby Lobby. On a typical Saturday during football season Carlos would always be cheering “Roll Tide Roll!” and aggravating his Auburn loving children. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father, and Pawpaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvie and Irene Elliott.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Elliott; children, Ricky Elliott of Curry, Ala., Sandra Thompson of Rock Spring, Ga., and Scott Elliott (Shalanda) of Ocean Springs, Miss.; grandchildren, Matthew Thompson of Dalton, Ga., Marcus Thompson (Lorena) of Calhoun, Ga., Zachary Thompson (Faith) of Rock Spring, Ga., and Lydia Elliott of Ocean Springs, Miss.; step grandchildren, Rakeed Johnson and Lamear Shanklin; siblings, Doris Pumphrey (Glenn), Charles Elliott, and Judy Taylor.
A special thanks to Dr. Steve Johnson for his excellent care over the many years. Another thanks to the very caring staff of Southeast Hospice.
