Alice Faye Martin, 76, of Oakman, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 1 until 2 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 pm in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with a private family burial at New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery. Donell Brown will officiate.
Alice was born December 23, 1946, to Charles and Cleazelle McClinton. She was one of seven children, on being her twin brother. She had a precious spirit, the kind that immediately lit up any room she entered. With her bubbly personality and joyful presence, she was loved by everyone.
Alice attended Oakman High School, that is where the relationship began with the love of her life, Roy Martin. After graduating in 1965, they were married and moved to Huntsville, where Roy began his career with IBM. During these years they had two children. In 1978, Roy was transferred to Woodstock, GA, they raised their children there. Her children and family were her world. Alice spent most of her time involved in their sporting events volunteering every chance she could get. She worked as an administrate assistant at Etowah High School. After 26 years she retired, she and Roy moved back home where it all began in Oakman, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Cleazelle McClinton; sister, Patsy McClinton; her twin brother, Allen Ray “Mister” McClinton; in-laws, Melvin and Juanita Martin.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Roy Martin Sr.; children, Marla Martin Hardin (Ray) of Decatur and Roy Allen Martin Jr (Tawnya) of Jasper; grandchildren, Raegan Hardin, Jacob Martin, Emma Martin and Reeves Hardin; sister, Emily Diehl; brothers, Carson McClinton, Homer McClinton and Ernie McClinton, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement. She was unselfish to a fault often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs of others. Her southern hospitality always made everyone feel welcome. Alice was witty and full of life, a blessing to all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Bryne Diehl, Dalton McClinton, Reeves Hardin, Charles Diehl, Raegan Hardin and Jeb Martin.
