William (Bill) H. Martin, 89, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born May 16, 1925 to Marvin and Pansy Martin in Graceville, FL. William enjoyed gardening, woodworking and his golden retrievers. He served in the Navy during WWII aboard the USS Portland. He also retired from Civil Service at the Naval Air Rework Facility at NAS JAX after 30 years and worked at WJXT 4 for 40 years in engineering. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, June. William is survived by one son Jim (Diana) Martin, two daughters Debbie (Don) Westerfeld, Cathy Davis, one brother Wade (Alva) Martin, six grandchildren Amy, Tiffany, Todd, Mitchell, Gemini and Garrett, and one great-granddaughter Annie. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A visitation will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 10:00-11:00am. Funeral services to follow visitation at 11:00am in the chapel. Interment with military honors immediately after at Riverside Memorial Park.
