William H. (Billy) Higginbotham, 81, passed away on April 9, 2010. William was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida. He was a member of Dinsmore Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army; he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from CSX after 40 years of dedicated service. Billy served as Chief of Dinsmore Volunteer Firefighters for 14 years, he was also a member of the Dinsmore Civic Association, Dinsmore Heritage Committee and the Railroad Retirement Association. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Billy was also a model railroad enthusiast. He is predeceased by his parents, Reecie and Bertha Higginbotham. He is survived by his wife of 49 beautiful years, Lorine; sons, Eddie Pearson(Brenda), Roy Pearson and Bill Higginbotham; daughters, Donna Anderson (Keith) and Marie Cook (James); brother, Bobby Higginbotham (Jackie); sisters, Doris Dresbeck and Betty Fay Rodgers; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 2-4pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 11:00 am, with entombment to follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
