William C. Copeland, 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. He was born on November 3, 1928 in Macon, Ga. After graduating from High School, he and his parents moved to Savannah. There he attended Armstrong Junior College. He received his BBA from Emory in Atlanta, in June of 1951. After graduation, he served 24 months in the U.S. Army Quartermaster and 15 months in Korea. Most of his business career was in the Office Equipment industry with companies such as Friden, Singer, Trendata, Memorex and Toshiba. In September of 1986 he moved to Jacksonville and became associated with Bennett’s. He retired from Bennett’s in January of 1991. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen; his son, Mike (Wen) of Clayton, Ga.; daughter, Joan Foster, (John) of St. Augustine; granddaughter, Michael Ann Copeland and grandson, William Taylor Copeland, both of Clayton and several nieces and nephews. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. (TODAY) Friday, September 28, 2012, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday the 29th at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
