Terry Sharkey

Terry was born in Niles Michigan. His family lived in Cassopolis and eventually settled in Broward County, Florida. Terry played little league baseball for DeConna Ice Cream. He graduated from McArthur High School in 1966 where he was president of his junior class and played on the football and basketball teams. He attended The Junior College of Broward County and received a BS from Nova University graduating Summa Cum Laude. He majored in Computer Technology and programmed mainframe computers from 1968 until he retired in 2014. While working at Broward Community College he met his future wife, Joan. They were married for 50 years and had three sons, David, Michael, and Daniel. Moving to Switzerland, FL in 1988, they joined Switzerland Community Church where Terry served as a member of the Council and the Board of Elders. He taught an Adult Sunday School class for nearly 30 years. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Max & Carl. He is survived by his wife Joan, sons David, Michael (Kelly) and Daniel (Beth) and his grandchildren Gideon (Daniel) and Jenna (Michael). He passed surrounded by his family.

A visitation for Terry will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Switzerland Community Church, 2179 State Road 13, Saint Johns, FL 32259.

Terry's final resting place is Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, Florida, 32073.
