Sylvia Amanda Hamilton Chandler

Sylvia was born in Montgomery, Alabama April 13, 1946 and was the daughter of George and Viola Hamilton. Sylvia graduated from East Depot High School in LaGrange, Georgia in 1964. She was able to achieve her life-long dream of becoming a college graduate when she received her B.A. from Russell Sage College in 2004. Sylvia relocated to Jacksonville, Fl in 2004 to be closer to her children and grandchildren and to enjoy the Florida sunshine. She became a faithful member of New Bethel A.M.E Church. Sylvia loved above all her Heavenly Father and her family.

She was pre-deceased by both her parents and Rev. Micah Chandler & stepdaughter Maria.

Surviving her are children, Michele (Kelly), Malika (Greg), Micah (Angie), grandchildren, Domenique, Alexa, K.J., Kyle, Khalil, Amarah, Avianah, Ashley, Carlos, Chris, Malika and Jessica, beloved brothers: Vinson (Juanita), Warren, Houston (Gail) and Woodland (Stephanie),her brothers-in-law Paul (Gloria), Jeffrey (Pat) and sisters-in-law Cynthia and Valerie, mother-in-law Willie, stepson Mark, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will always be remembered for her kindness to family, friends and anyone who was graced by her presence. She possessed both outer and inner beauty which was displayed by her kind actions and warm heart. She will forever be known as a loving mother to her own children as well as to others who affectionately called her “Momma C” (Michael, Regina, Charlene, Rod, Ron, DeeDee and Andrew.)

Services will be held on Saturday 8-31-13 at 10:30 am at New Bethel A.M.E. Church 9864 New Berlin Rd Jax, Fl 32206.

Visitation will be held on Friday 8-30-13 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills, 850 St. John’s Bluff Rd. N., Jacksonville, Fl 32225.
