Susan “Sue” Purvis Dyes was born February 10, 1955 to Bryan and Margaret Purvis in Jacksonville, Florida. On this day, her curtain opened and she played the role of a very vivacious soul. Her life was full of uncanny abilities to reach people in deep, positive ways. She was playful; absolutely loved to cut up with everyone with a laughter you could recognize a mile away. She had a blunt way of telling it like it is and would do so with compassion and realism. Sue loved living life to the fullest with excitement in all things colorful, wild, and unique. She had a natural caress and desire to put everyone above herself; always doing for others, a true selfless soul. Our precious Sue took her final bow and her curtain closed Friday October 28, 2022 when she was called home to be with the Lord.
Sue was one of the few to marry and share her life with her junior high school sweetheart, Alan Dyes, for more than 50 years. Her pride and joy were her children Joseph, Jennifer, and granddaughter Samantha. Family meant the world to her. Her best friend was her sister, her nieces and nephews were like her own, even her great-nieces and nephews; she took pride in our village with great care, patience, protection, and love. Sue began her professional life with the family business in the transportation and moving industry where she was highly skilled and devoted for 50 years. Her entertainment pleasures were reading books, often times two-three a week, attending theater performances, rock n’ roll, and traveling to many places and countries with a love for clear waters and calm seas; especially the Caribbean and Florida Keys. What Sue loved the most was time spent with family and friends. Her large, beautiful smile and sparkling blue eyes would light up any room. Moments spent together were never dull and always humorous. She most definitely brought the good times; large laughs, tightest hugs, hardest back pats and never failed to say the words “I Love Ya”!
Sue’s memory will always remain alive as she will be the lightening in the storm, the glisten in the sand, the chirp of the morning birds, the sun on our skin, the presence when we’re alone, the wind on our face, the waves on the shore and the stars in the night’s grace. We will continue here on earth loving you, my daughter, my wife, my sister, my mom, my Aunt Sue-Sue, my Nana, my friend; this is not where it ends, we will be with you again.
