just learned of steves passsing he was a great person 

Steve was truly a wonderful human being. He and I spent a few years together training at the Coggin Group and have known each other 17 or 18 years. Whenever you saw Pottsie, there was always a smile. He was focused and dedicated to his work and always led from the front with a smile and a kind word. He was one of the rare people you know in life that while you don't know well, you always look forward to seeing them and catching up. He made me feel better and smile every time we spoke. I am saddened to learn of his death and share my condolences with his family. 

Steve was a true nice guy, and in our industry there are only a few of these. He was always available for me and even got me my first big opportunity to run a large store. I saw him regularly getting on planes with me and we would share current and old memories. I truly will miss the gentleman of gentleman. God speed Pottsy

Steve and I spent many hours together on the road training for U. S. Warranty.  He was a classy guy with a very big heart for the people he loved the most.  I don't remember him ever having a cross word to say about anyone over the many years that I knew him.  He truly was a glass half-full type of person!  He had a great sense of humor along with some even greater stories he shared.  I never will forget one very late night traveling throughout the state of Tennessee with another friend from Victory Automotive.  We had trained in several stores across the state that day and had reservations to stay the night outside of Nashville.  Not even stopping for lunch, it was now after midnight when we attempted to take Steve up on a promise of a SOLID dinner on him.  However, the only option that was open at that hour was a Waffle House...so, we indulged on their finest dining options that were available.  (I think I remember one item being referred to as hash browns that were scattered, smothered & covered)  Steve was quite pleased with himself and the extremely low tab that he had picked up!  David and I never let him forget about his big spending spree at such an affluent restaurant!  (I'm told that he even received a Waffle Maker for Christmas one year to remind him of that big night)  Here's to you Steve for all of the great memories you shared with so many people over the years!  Rest in Peace my friend...

I had the privilege and pleasure of getting to know Steve professionally a few years ago and quickly realized what a genuinely good person he was - I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing but immensely grateful for having had the opportunity to call him friend.

My life is better for having known Steve.

Steve Potts, Pottsie, was truly one of kindest human beings I have ever known.
Steve and I met 30 years ago when we worked for Karl Singer & Associates and we’ve worked together for most of those 30 years.  Steve’s kindness and earnestness were a couple of the truly wonderful attributes that Steve possessed.  Steve was one of the hardest working people I’ve known and was always willing to help a fellow employee.  He will truly be missed by all who knew him.  
To Dixie, Jeromy, Aaron and the family,  My deepest sympathy goes out to you for the loss of such a wonderful person.  Please know that my prayers are with you all during this time of bereavement.

Steve Potts was one of the finest persons I’ve every known. I consider myself lucky to have known Steve. I am going to miss him but will continue to strive to be more like him.


Pottsie, you always believed in me. You were always there, encouraging me and bringing out my best. You were a mentor and a very dear friend and I will never forget the lessons you've taught me over the past 20 years. It's going to be odd not to be able to pick up the phone to get your advice or share a success and I will miss our talks. Your positive outlook, infectious smile, and wealth of knowledge will be surely missed by many but not as much as me. Dixie, my love and prayers go out to you and your family during this difficult time. Rest in peace Steve. Can't wait to have a glass of wine with you again my friend.

I’ve known and worked with Steve for almost 30 years.  He was very much like a brother to me. We usually agreed on just about everything, but when we didn’t he was never afraid to stand his ground- respectfully, which was typical for Steve. He was a true gentleman who showed respect to everyone he met, and instantly would be your friend. He had an infectious laugh, and said and did so many funny things. I’m proud to call Steve my friend, and I will grieve for him, as will so many others who knew him. To Dixie, the boys and the rest of Steve’s family, I pray you soon find peace. You shared the life of a kind and great man, who loved you and was so devoted to you. He will be missed by us all, but never ever forgotten. 

I was saddened to get a call yesterday, with the news of Steve's passing. I had the honor and pleasure of working with Steve, when he was our company business development representative in the Chicago area. Steve always carried himself with dignity and grace, didn't take shortcuts and persevered when others had given up. 
For those of you who remember the TV show Taxi, Steve did the very best imitation of James Ignatowski and used it at some very opportune times. 
I'll always remember Steve and Dixie helping me out, when I had spent the night in the Napierville Hospital Emergency room with a kidney stone.
Steve was truly one of the Good Guys, who will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Rest In Peace Pottsie, you earned it.

Potsie.. so many ways to describe his presence here on earth. Style, grace, passion, love, empathy, energy,friendship,loyalty, honor, and so many more great traits that made him so successful. I had the blessing to have worked with Steve for about a decade. He taught me so much about how to work smart and build relationships with those who are important to you.
He always spoke about his family and the joy they brought to him. I will never forget his kindness and humor that made him my friend.
Rest In Peace buddy! 

Steve was one of the good guys. We worked together a number of years and he was a hard working, effective, smart man with the rare, genuine attribute of being a genuinely nice person. Thoughtful, soft-spoken and just a real pleasure to be around. Dixie! I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers—hugs to your family. Steve will be missed. ❤️

Steve, what can be said about you that wasn't readily apparent to everyone who knew you?  You were a gentleman and a friend.  Someone who listened and genuinely cared.  You were a class act all the way.  In an industry that can bring out the worst in some, you stood as a shining example of how to be.  May your family be comforted knowing that those who you worked with on a daily basis loved, respected, and appreciated all you did for us.  On a personal note, I'll miss swapping wine recommendations.  Tonight, I'll have a glass of wine to toast your life.

I have known Steve for a very short time - only 18 months or so....  as a client of his, he made me feel great knowing that he would handle things for our dealership group in a timely and professional manner.  I'll miss his cheerful attitude and his smile.  My deepest condolences to his family...
