After a protracted battle with cancer, Sherry Lee (Perry) Kempf, of Wells and Sanford, Maine passed away on March 28th, 2022 in Fernandina Beach, FL at the age of 62. She is survived and missed by her loving husband, Michael; her daughters Jessica Kempf and Joy and husband Daron Goldstein; her grandsons Greyson and Ari Goldstein; her mother Joyce Perry; her three brothers Kenneth Perry Jr. and wife Betty of Louisburg, NC, Jeff Perry and his wife Leslie of Lyman, ME, Randy Perry of Hollis, ME, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sherry was born on July 23, 1959 in York, Maine to her father Kenneth B. Perry Sr., who is predeceased, and Joyce (Allen) Perry. She grew up on Buzzell Road in a large, loving family with three brothers and many close cousins. Sherry was a sports enthusiast who played softball and basketball throughout her school years. She graduated from Wells High School in 1977 where she was affectionately known as “Sherry Perry”.
In 1978, while attending University of Tampa and playing basketball for the Spartans, Sherry met and married Michael Kempf, of Columbus, Ohio who was in the U.S. Air Force and stationed at MacDill AFB, FL. In the early years of their marriage they traveled to several duty locations including Pease AFB, New Hampshire, Lajes Field, Azores, and Holloman AFB, New Mexico. Upon Michael's separation from the Air Force, they made their home in Sanford, Maine where they raised their daughters.
Sherry worked for over 20 years at Lafayette's Oceanfront Resort, mostly managing their front office. After they retired in 2018, Sherry and Michael enjoyed spending the winters in Jacksonville, FL with their daughter Jessica and their summers in Ellsworth, ME with their daughter Joy and her family. She was an avid Duke University Men's Basketball fan, as well as several New England sports teams including the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics.
