Beloved wife, mom, grandmother, sister, and friend, Sharon “Sherrie” Mae Hamilton Hudson went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2019. Sherrie was born in High Coal, West Virginia on February 11, 1947 to Curtis and Nellie Mae Green. In 1965, she married Carl Preston Hamilton, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1968. Sherrie moved to Jacksonville Florida in 1974 after marrying Richard Hudson and was happily married for 44 years. An active member of her church since 1982, Sherrie loved to teach young children and ladies’ classes, travel, cook, and play Canasta with her friends. To family and many in her church whose lives she touched over the years, she was affectionately known as “Noni,” and “Grannana.” She was also known in the Jacksonville area for her work as a talented hairdresser for over 40 years.
In addition to her devoted husband Rick, Sherrie is survived by her loving daughter Sara Dawn Hamilton Barrs and her husband, Wally of Fleming Island; an adored granddaughter, Juliana Elizabeth; brother Thomas N. Green and his wife, Joni of Oak Hill, West Virginia; niece Tomara McGinnis, also of Oak Hill, West Virginia; and many dear friends Sherrie considered her extended family.
Please join her family in a celebration of her life Wednesday morning, January 9, 2019, at 11:00 at Normandy Park Baptist Church, 7050 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Troy Dixon will be officiating.
