Ruth A. Johnson

Ruth Ann “Anne” Johnson, age 85, of Fleming Island, FL passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. She was born to Delbert and Ethel Felton in Terre Haute, IN on August 10, 1937.

After graduating high school in 1955, she became an Air Force wife and traveled the USA, coast to coast, having four children along the way. In 1968, she moved to Jacksonville, FL where she became a single mother by choice. She worked very hard to support her kids by working as a waitress for more than 45 years. She worked at Sandy’s Steer Room on Beaver Street and Tom and Betty’s at the Park and Cassat location, and later at the Roosevelt Mall location. She was well known for competent service with a ready smile.

Anne is survived by her four children, Angie Bubb, Cindy Myers (William), Larry Johnson (Cheryl) and Bill Johnson (Heather); eleven grandchildren, Melanie, Samantha, Tyler, Kenney, Timmy, Shelby, T.J., Miles, Zachary, Cody and Ashley; and nine great-grandchildren.

Anne was a combination of strength and love chased with a little bit of stubbornness. More than anything, she was a generous woman.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care or to the charity of your choice in her memory.

A visitation for Ruth will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073.
