Professionally, Ruth was a computer specialist for the FAA starting in Atlantic City with the majority of her career working in Hilliard, FL. She retired after 43 years in 2011.
Ruth was raised on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. She spent countless days at the beach with her friends, attended Pleasantville High School, and being a teenager of the 1950’s and 1960’s experienced the birth of Rock N’ Roll and even danced on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Her interest in music and theatre led her to attending numerous concerts and flying off to Broadway over the years.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Henry Zimmerman and sister, Dorothy McGehean.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dana Crist (Jack) of Blackfoot, Idaho, Kris Light (Aaron) of Jacksonville, Florida; two nephews; two grandchildren; one great grandchild, and countless family and friends throughout the US.
The family will have visitation on Friday, November 16th at 3755 Catherine Street, Hilliard, FL from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin on Saturday, November 17th at 11 a.m.
The family welcomes flowers or memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association.
