Ruby Peterson-Stafford

Mrs. Ruby Dean Bryant, Peterson, Stafford was born May 18, 1932 and went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2013. Until her death she was a member of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church. She was born in Dawson (Terrell County), Georgia to Mr. and Mrs. Lucy Mae Pollard-Bryant and Edward Bryant. She was previously married to Pastor Eddie L. Peterson, Sr., where out of that union eight children were born and until her death she was married to Dave Stafford, Jr., where out of that union one child was born, the late Jacqueline Stafford.

After laboring in her career as a Domestic Worker, Para-Professional and Home Help-Aide, Mrs. Stafford, respectfully known to many as ”Mother dear” labored and mentored in her community as a Neighborhood Watch Coordinator for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Sherriff’s Advisory Council (SHADCO). She also was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She leaves her memories to be cherished by her family: husband Dave Stafford, Jr.; sons Khalil Ali (Eddie Lee Peterson, Jr.) and Rickie Peterson Gail); daughters Dorothy Peterson, Beverly Peterson, Carol Peterson, Gloria Peterson, Annette Peterson-Lane, and Kathleen Peterson-Lester (Calvin). She also has six step-children: Dave Stafford, III, Yates Stafford, Bernard Stafford, Reginald Stafford, Spring Stafford and Derrick Stafford.

She also leaves two sisters, four brothers, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of devoted family and friends.

Family will receive friends and family 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday August 7, 2013 at Hardage- Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 11:00 at the Bethel Baptist Institutional Church located at 215 Bethel Street, Jax. FL 32202.Interment is to follow at Evergreen Cemetery located at 4535 Main Street, Jax. FL 32206. Bishop Rudolph McKissick, Sr. officiating.
