Robert "Bobby" Ellis Burns Sr.

"Bobby" Burns passed on March 30th. Bobby was born in Dinsmore, Florida on their family farm on Plummer Rd to William H. Burns and Sara Eve Walsh Burns. Bobby retired from the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Division in 1993 after 33 years' service as a Lieutenant. In 1972, Bobby and his brother Burt bought a large tract of land on Woods Rd that became a county road. (Burns Rd). There they farmed raised cattle, raised children and grandchildren.

Bobby was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Ginger Burns, his daughter in law, Laurie Burns, his parents, four brothers and three sisters. Bobby is survived by his wife Delores Burns, three sons Robert Burns Jr, Frank Burns, Raymond (Gina) Burns, grandsons, Robert "Ellis" (Marianne) Burns III, Evan (Ashley) Burns, Christopher (Melissa) Burns, Jeff (Allison) Burns. Bobby also had seven great grandchildren.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers to please donate to the Ephesus Baptist Church of Hilliard, Florida building fund for their growing congregation.

A visitation will take place Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 10am, with a service at 11am, at Ephesus Baptist Church, 48143 Ephesus Rd, Hilliard, FL 32046. Bobby will be laid to rest at Edgewood Cemetery after the funeral service, 4519 N Edgewood Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32219.
