LYONS Richard E. Lyons, 81, passed away February 24, 2013, in Jacksonville, FL, from complications of congestive heart failure. Richard was a graphic designer and best known for the logo he designed for Miami Heat. He was a fine artist and director of Studio Gallery One in Jacksonville. He was born in Lochloosa, Florida, October 31, 1931, to Augusta and Ervin Lyons. He graduated from Pierson High School in 1949. He and his twin brother, William, served in the U.S. Navy 1951-1955. Richard lived most of his life in Jacksonville and Atlanta. He is predeceased by his long-time friend, James C. Pickens, and is survived by his twin brother William and his wife Dixie, his sister Bonnie, niece Sharon Y. Cobb and her husband Robert Ward, niece Pat Cobb and niece Terri Hair, her husband David and their family. A memorial service will be held March 3, 3:00 p.m., at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville. The family wishes to thank the Veterans Administration, Doug Morgan and Community Hospice of Northeast Florida for caring for Richard during his final years.
