Ralph A. Burt, 90, passed away on December 17, 2013. Ralph was born on December 22, 1922 in Lamar Co., GA to Absalom and Francis Burt. Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and Korea. He lived in Jacksonville since 1952 where he was a Civil Engineer for Armco Steel for nearly 40 years and was very active in his church. He served as a Deacon for Mandarin Baptist Church and formed the church’s first library. Ralph enjoyed traveling but his passion was football and baseball and even played semi-pro baseball for an Atlanta team. Above all, he loved the Lord, his wife and his family. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Claire Burt and his sister, Julaine Stockard. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Edith; son, Chuck Burt (Sandy) their children, Katie, Adam and Lindsey; DeeDee Evans (Rick) their children, Jamie and Jodie; Steve Powell (Kim) their children Steven and Harlen and 5 great-grandchildren. Ralph will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, December 23 in Mandarin Baptist Church, 11244 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223 with visitation one hour prior to service at church. Interment will be held at 1pm on Friday, December 27 in Ocilla, GA.
