Serving in the U.S Navy at the start of the Korean War landed Tykie in Jacksonville, Cecil Field in 1950. After his service with the Navy he decided Jacksonville would be his home. Tykie was a lifetime active member of the Greek Orthodox Christian Church, St John The Divine. He was married and had three beautiful children. Tykie began his coffee career with Maxwell House Coffee. After five years with Maxwell House, he opened his own business, Condaxis Coffee and Tea Inc., on Beaver Street. Tykie was a 30+ year member if the Riverside Rotary Club. Additionally, he was an avid woodworker, designing and making furniture pieces, but mostly he loved making icons for special friends and family. His pastime was sailing on the St. Johns River in his sailboat; a one time winner of the Mug Race sailing from Palatka to Jacksonville.
