Michael was a neighborhood kid. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida where he began to live in the Sandalwood neighborhood. He attended Brookview Elementary School, Landmark Middle School, and Sandalwood High School. Michael worked at many places around, including Target, Amazon, and Holiday Inn, to mention a few. It didn't matter where he worked, he was always proud to have a job and to make money. His true passion was his family. His mother, his father, his sister, his brothers, and most recently his niece. He loved spending time with his cousins.
Michael is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Santiago Cruz, paternal grandparents, Rafael Martinez and Dolores Martinez, his uncles Jose Martinez, Rafael Ancangel Martinez, Carlos Rafael Martinez, Geraldo Cruz, his aunts Elena Martinez, Vivian Cruz, Ileana Cruz Casiano, and his cousin, Joe Louis Cruz.
Michael is survived by his mother, Carmen L Cruz, his father, Hector Manuel Martinez, his sister, Karen G. Martinez, his brother, Hector M. Martinez (Maggie), his brother, Ronny Martinez (Holly), his niece, Arabella Martinez, his grandmother, Carmen L. Cruz, his uncles, Santiago Cruz Jr., Louis Cruz, Eugenio Cruz (Yolanda), Hector A. Cruz (Sandra), Nelson Cruz (Maria), and Eduardo Cruz, his aunts Nydia Cruz, Carmen Cruz, and Nanette Lamb (John) and a large amount of cousins from both sides of the family.
A visitation for Michael will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Fort Caroline Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32225, followed by a Funeral Mass from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Internment will follow the Mass and will be located at Chapel Hills Memory Garden.
